This is a series of photographs where I used different materials derived from. animals to recreate flowers. I have used raw and processed meat for the red flowers and lard for the white flowers. Why combining meat as flowers?? In some ways they are aesthetically speaking completely the opposite. Meat is bloody and crude - Flowers are fragile and beautiful. But they have a lot of similarities on another level. Meat derives from a living animal and to a lot of people it is the most nourishing of foods. The flower is also a living thing and some can also be eaten. Meat like no other food symbolizes life, decay and death at the same time. This is also true for the flower which one level stands For perfection, beauty and vitality. But within a short time the flower transforms from a beautiful, living thing to a withering, wilted and finally dead thing. The series of photomontages shows us meat as a material almost not recognizable at first sight as it has been transformed into a flower. The same can be said about a lot of meat found in supermarkets which has been processed, and shaped into many different forms to camouflage and disguise its animal origins. Scientists are researching into going one step further. They are artificially growing meat in the laboratory.
